THE 79th HARTS RANGE RACES & BUSH SPORTS WEEKEND
Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the East MacDonnell Ranges, the iconic Harts Range Races is a true Territory tradition. For nearly eight decades, this much-loved event has brought together locals, station families and visitors from far and wide to celebrate the spirit of the outback.
Held annually at the Harts Range Racecourse, 215km east of Alice Springs on the Plenty Highway, the event proudly forms part of the NT August Picnic Races Public Holiday — a tradition built on 79 years of history, community and country racing.
Event Dates:
Friday 31 July – Monday 3 August 2026
Gates open from 10:00am, Friday 31 July
The week kicks off early with the Red Centre Campdraft, running from Tuesday 28 July through to Friday 31 July, leading into a full weekend of racing, bush sports and entertainment.
Payment Information:
EFTPOS is preferred at the gate, canteen, merchandise and tote; however, due to limited mobile reception, we recommend bringing cash as a backup.
Admission
At the Gate Entry – $50.00 per person
Under 16 years free (must enter under adult supervision)
Camping – Free (no powered sites)
Saturday Night dance – $5.00* per person
Under 16 years free (must enter under adult supervision)
2026 EVENT
Our Program involves 2 full days of activities and fun for all the family, over Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday: Motorkhana, Rodeo, Stockhorse Races with Fashions on the Field, Novelty Events and Evening Bush Dance.
Sunday: Family Sports events including Running Races, Novelty Races for kids, Ladies Cow Tail Toss and Tug-of-War, Rodeo in Afternoon, Evening Trivia, Talent Quest and Karaoke.

In all cases, Monday is the NT Picnic Public Holiday.
